Hi everyone, I'm facing a persistent problem where my keyboards keep failing. My AULA SI-859 backlit keyboard worked fine for about a year until during an Overwatch match it stopped registering any keystrokes—backlight stayed on but nothing came through. Windows recognized the device after troubleshooting, yet I still couldn't get anything back. I tried using it on my Ubuntu laptop and my parents' Windows 7 machine, but no success. Then I switched to an HP keyboard, which stopped working within two days despite drivers being installed and the device being registered. I've tested it across all available hardware without any results. My worry is that these keyboards might be being damaged by my computer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running: Windows 10 ver 1607 - 64 bit (recently downgraded to ver 1511, but the latest version was active when issues began). CPU: Core i5-4590, motherboard: MSI Z97 PC Mate 24GB DDR3, RAM: 128GB, storage: 1TB SSD, HDD: 450W Corsair 450W PSU, graphics: GTX 970, BIOS: version 4.40.

Open Start, type "Device Manager," select "Keyboards," click right-click your keyboard, choose uninstall, detach the USB, then reconnect it.

It might be an issue with the power supply unit or the mainboard USB connections. Could you try using a different power supply and another keyboard?

I don’t have another PSU for this rig, yet my current keyboard setup is failing on all three computers I tested. I checked both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports, as well as using a USB hub.

Have you checked for any malware? It’s suggested to use Malwarebytes for this purpose.

Attempt a complete reinstall; if that fails, try locating a fresh PSU similar to the one mentioned by @Rodniz. If it doesn’t resolve the issue, I really don’t know what might be causing it.

Understanding the issue helps you claim you’ve found a keyboard killer.
