Intel i7-8700K at 3.70GHz, 16GB RAM, 64-bit OS, AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, and a powered PSU from NZXT 850W. Many people mention driver problems, but I think it’s more likely related to the PSU rather than drivers. It seems to happen only with this game, not most updates. I’m still on Windows 10, though I understand what I’m doing. I downloaded a Snappy driver installer to try updating hidden drivers I can’t locate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated—I just want to play Smile

The game is relatively new, and AMD hasn't released updated WHQL drivers since May 10, 2022... I'm hoping they'll introduce a fresh driver soon instead of relying on Beta versions for a while. Have you tested the most recent AMD Beta drivers to see if they work with Modern Warfare 2? The 22.10.1 version from October 5th is worth trying.

GPU drivers are current and functioning properly now. After updating during the beta phase when crashes occurred, I reverted to an older version, only to see the problem persist. I've searched extensively for solutions related to MW2, but results are limited.

The crashing seems mainly limited to MW2, doesn't it? I think you'd need to wait for driver updates or a fix from the developers. Regarding in-game overlays, try turning them off. It's interesting how similar this is to BF4 on Windows 11—DirectX errors popped up too. I disabled my overlays using MSI Afterburner/RTSS, cleared those processes, and the game launched smoothly afterward.

The issue seems linked to me when I manually shut down my PSU to restart after the crash. I plan to review CPU temperatures to determine if they’re contributing to the problem. This failure occurs only with this particular game, while other Call of Duty versions run smoothly.
