The issue with NZXT CAM's CPU monitoring is puzzling. We need to figure out what’s causing it.
I put in the cam, the latest one without any signs of data mining like the previous version. I see strong CPU performance tracking that seems normal, usually staying under 20% usage and never going past 30%. There are higher clock readings noted. When fans spin loudly, cam reports only 17% or less, rarely hitting 30% and seldom exceeding 25%. It looks more sensible compared to Task Manager, which shows clearer usage patterns and fan speed changes. Clock speed appears more realistic in Task Manager too. Any ideas about why this is happening? And should I trust cam's data on this?
Skip the software and opt for an alternative method to track your CPU performance.
I removed the installation, apparently it's still active or doing something. My fans go all out when I launch it now. Previously it was just off by a lot. Not trustworthy from them—unless I'm compelled, I won't buy anything or use it unless necessary. Things might be fine here, but I'm certain with this kind of situation, customer support is either terrible or expensive. I cleared CAM to smithereen.
Some solid alternatives to Cam are Camtasia, ScreenFlow, and Adobe Premiere Pro.
I haven't used CAM before, but I prefer HWiNFO in "Sensor Only" mode. It doesn't look as impressive, but the information displayed can be adjusted and tracked. Another useful aspect is its capability to operate as a portable on any device with admin access—no installation required if you're not interested.
