When I shut down Discord on my PC, both the school laptop and my personal desktop also close, but when I open Task Manager I see it still running in the background and consuming CPU. Having to manually enter Task Manager and click End Task each time I want to close Discord is quite inconvenient, so is there a solution to this issue?

You have the option to turn off the Minimize (close) feature for the Tray setting, allowing Discord to shut down entirely upon exit.
Navigate to Discord -> User Settings -> scroll down to Windows Settings -> disable Minimize to Tray.
Screenshot
This will ensure Discord closes completely instead of just minimizing it to the tray when you click X to close the app.

Your experience is typical. To close Discord after use, click the Discord icon in the Notification Area (the small icons at the bottom-right near the clock) and select "Exit".

Yes, that worked. Minimizing to the system tray is now correct. Thanks.

Windows 10 Pro is installed according to the information on the bottom of the user settings, but in Task Manager it appears as a 32bit version. I turned off "minimize to tray" during my first week using Discord in 2016, and whenever I switch operating systems or perform a fresh install, this is one of the initial steps I take. Still, after completely closing Discord, at least two instances of the 32bit version remain active, and CPU usage only slightly decreases once I end those tasks. What’s happening?
