I purchased this machine a bit over a year ago. It functioned properly for several months, but eventually it would shut down unexpectedly. Along the way, the monitor displayed an HDMI signal issue, the GPU fans ran excessively fast, and the CPU light flashed repeatedly. Initially, I suspected the graphics card was the culprit due to the missing HDMI connection and the intense fan noise. I switched to another GPU, but the problem persisted. After replacing the HDMI cable twice without success, I used a different monitor borrowed from my dad, which also failed. Eventually, I took it to a local repair shop. They suggested checking the motherboard or CPU, but we received a second opinion from another nearby service that agreed with them. They recommended returning both components under warranty. Since I bought everything separately, they had no choice but to send the entire PC back. I opted to return the old motherboard and use the refunded funds for a replacement. A few days later, when the new one arrived, I ran benchmarks and found the same issues still present. I sent the new motherboard back to Amazon, which shipped a replacement. Fortunately, this one worked, but the computer continued to exhibit the same problems. By then, I was ready to consider giving up. I thought about purchasing a new CPU, but I remembered buying it on August 10th and Amazon promised delivery by Sunday—about two days later. Checking their tracker, it still hadn’t shipped as of the expected date. It remains undelivered, possibly not arriving until the 14th or 15th of August. Even if it did arrive then, it’s unlikely to reach me by Saturday or this week. If the new CPU fails, I’m done. This machine took nearly six months to be resolved, and during that time, neither school nor me did much about it. I’m left wondering what to do next.

PC Specifications: Ryzen 5 5500 (soon Ryzen 5 3600), RTX 2060 MSI B550 GAMING GEN 3 (now MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS), 16GB RAM, EVGA 500W PSU, Bronze Sammsung 980 SSD

Is your BIOS current? Are you using the original BIOS version or changing configurations? Have you performed a MemTest on the memory? Your power supply unit is only marginally fine…this could also be a problem.

Sure, others can assist too, just like you. I think there are likely some people at LMG who handle computer issues and similar tasks.

The bios didn’t need changing since both the old CPU and motherboard were compatible. I checked with pcpartpicker to confirm compatibility without updating the bios. The PSU also stated it uses only 334W total, which is fine. I skipped memtest because I couldn’t reach my PC.

Pcpartpicker is known for inconsistent compatibility. Check the documentation for your motherboard version to find supported options.
