From a safety perspective, I fully support their view because there could be a chance for harmful code hidden within .nif or .dds files, something I'm not familiar with occurring yet. From a player's point of view, it seems completely exaggerated.
It's beneficial beyond just safety since users anticipate a modified game functioning identically to the original.
Adjusting the settings has started impacting performance. I reduced the render distance by two and tweaked a few other options. Now on Superflat I'm seeing 120 frames, while my world shows 75-80. It's not as smooth as before, but it works for playing around. The 30fps is still pretty low compared to what it used to be.
I usually check out lighting modifications. Mostly I haven’t seen any other changes make a big difference. Sure, it’s a private LAN setup, but... Lighting tweaks? Probably because Minecraft doesn’t use the CPU efficiently, which can hurt frame rates. Dynamic lighting in particular seems to be an issue.
