I added another SSD to my PC with the goal of running Linux, but encountered problems... Ubuntu 18.10 doesn't install at all—it freezes and shows a read/write error. Manjaro does install, but it runs very slow and has random crashes and kernel panics during reboots. I have Windows 8.1 on a separate SSD, which is working perfectly.

Use Etcher to create a bootable USB drive from your computer.

I've used dd and rufus too. I also created an 18.10 USB drive with rufus before using the same ISO, and installed it on my laptop without any issues. The USB itself isn't the issue.

I typically rely on Fedora Media Writer to create bootable USB drives. Rufus works well, though sometimes it feels unpredictable. It occasionally succeeds, but other times the process is sluggish or unstable.

Yes, I can run Linux on various hardware configurations. For example, you can check for errors in Manjaro by typing "dmesg" to see any filesystem issues.

I own many computers, so yes—this Manjaro installation failed completely... it bricked itself. GG SSD...

Sure, I can review it using S.M.A.R.T. metrics. Let me know if you'd like me to proceed.

I'll install it in the bays of my PC's RAID card, and all my additional drives—like the Windows SSD—will be linked to it. Everything seems okay so far.

The system reports no detected drives, which is confusing.

When attempting to remove the partition on that SSD via Windows Disk Management, I encounter a critical hardware failure alert.
