I just got the new Power Color RX 7900xt red devil, but I’m running into odd performance issues in some games. My CPU is an R5 5600X with 16 GB DDR4 3600 RAM. In Destiny 2 (1440p max), I see frame rates between 110 and 150 FPS on a 165Hz monitor, GPU usage at 70-80% and CPU around 50%. The card is angled about 60 degrees and the CPU sits at 50%, so no thermal throttling. What’s preventing the GPU from reaching full performance?

It's a limitation with the game engine, not your hardware. For instance, I run D2 at full settings with 1440p resolution but only manage around 138 fps consistently. This is to prevent stuttering and other issues. The engine for D2 is quite outdated and heavy, making it difficult to optimize performance. We've discussed this extensively on Steam.

Join the discussions! Verify your memory capacity in Task Manager and observe how each core performs during play, but it seems you're reaching a limit for game performance.

I think the bottleneck might be with your CPU. Try turning on SAM, enable 4G decoding, and confirm your drivers are up to date. Destiny 2 also has known optimization issues that affected older systems.

Sorry for being there. I’m not sure what’s behind your problem, but I just wanted to mention I really appreciate the case you’re using and how it’s configured. Nice work!

You're confirming the base frequency is correct, but wondering if performance is constrained by using just a few cores.

SAM is turned on along with 4G and all drivers. The issue might just be optimization—my CPU isn’t hitting full capacity.

Thanks! It's the new Hyte Y40. I love the vertical GPU mount in it. Definitely would recommend.

I'm not sure, I don't play, but you can check the CPU section in the tab, right-click the graph, switch to logical processors, then enter the game. Look for cores stuck at 100 or see if the issue lies with the game's optimization. This happens often in Valheim—it only uses half the cores and drains most of your GPU power.

It seems the D2 is likely tuned in a specific way.
