They seem unusually affordable when both use the same 3600Mhz CL16 specs, yet the Trident Z NEO variant is priced lower than the Crucial Ballistix. The difference likely comes from other factors like manufacturing costs or design choices not related to frequency. The higher price of the Trident Z NEO at CL18 suggests it offers more advanced features or better performance despite the similar specs.

It could be the die type, possibly a Cl16 primary timing while the other timings in the set are less optimal. The Trident Z you're referencing might actually be a Samsung B-Die depending on the model, which generally performs better at overclocking and offers tighter primaries overall.

I reviewed it and it actually becomes even more confusing with the key numbers 16-18-18-38 and the trident z at 16-19-19-39. I don’t think it’s a big deal because most eBay listings mentioning “b die inside” are for CL15 or CL14 models. It looks like I’ll probably end up with the cheaper option since there doesn’t seem to be a strong reason to choose the more expensive one.

At the end of 2018, I purchased one of those kits. I had to admit, the RGB wasn’t user-friendly with the Asus Aura—any adjustment in Aura led to a full rainbow display on the dimming panel.

some businesses prefer to add a large fee for their RGB options.
