The issue during driver installation in Windows 11 version 24H2 is due to an incorrect function being referenced.
Hello!
I've set up Windows 11 v24H2 with a clean installation.
All my crucial files are stored in ISO images, which I use with PowerISO.
After the Windows update, I tried installing drivers and some programs but encountered the issue: "Incorrect Function".
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
1. Reinstalled v24H2 multiple times.
2. Activated TPM 2.0 & Secure Boot in BIOS.
3. Updated PowerISO to the latest version.
4. Changed v24H2 to the newest build.
My workaround was going back to v23H2, which functions perfectly.
PC specifications:
- Motherboard: ASRock X670E Taichi (latest BIOS)
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X
- RAM: Kingston Fury Beast 2x32GB DDR5-5800 CL30
- SSDs: 3x Samsung 970 PRO 1TB (RAID-0)
- Video Card: Nvidia - Gigabyte RTX 3080 Vision OC 10G (newest VBIOS)
Question: Is anyone aware of a solution for this error?
when i downloaded win 11 v24h2 and updated on two of the three computers—one with a 5000 processor and the other with a 3000 processor—the first one encountered an issue when updating the motherboard chipset using the latest amd drivers. i removed it, and i noticed a similar problem before; the 9000 series also had that.
Yeah.
But in my situation, I encountered that issue before installing any driver!
The problem persisted even after installing all drivers and after upgrading Windows 11 to the latest version.
There isn't much information available online about this error.
the image you display relates to the graphics card, as evident. If the issue originates from there, remove the drivers using ddu in safe mode and locate the appropriate ones for your specific card.
Have you ensured all chipset drivers for Windows 11 are installed initially? Typically, these drivers are prioritized since many components rely on them. I recommend setting up all motherboard drivers before adding third-party ones such as Nvidia graphics drivers. Additionally, it seems you're using the studio version; do you achieve the same outcome with the game ready version?
It's not related to my graphics card. The picture you saw was just an illustration of that issue (in the example I was attempting to install the Nvidia Studio driver). The "Incorrect Function" error appears on my screen when installing any software from an ISO file.
I completed all driver installations for my PC. (I saved those drivers separately from the ISO files so they could be used later.) After restarting the computer, even with Windows updated to the newest version and using the latest PowerISO version to mount an ISO image, I still encountered the Incorrect Function error. The problem appeared no matter which version of PowerISO I used. Returning to Windows 11 version 23H2 fixed the issue completely.
I don't have specific details but it seems there could be additional issues with Power ISO & 24H2 that might be resolved in an upcoming update. (I think Tom may have misunderstood the translation.)
The post also asks whether these problems extend to other virtual programs, as I haven't tried any since the latest update.
