The ISDone.dll file encountered an error (-7) during the game installation process.
Greetings:
I'm attempting to install 'City Car Driving' on my computer, but I’m encountering a problem during the installation process. The following message appears:
“ISDone.dll
An error occurred during extraction:
archive damaged Unarc.dll returned an error code: -7
ERROR archive data is corrupted (decompression failed)”
Do you happen to know what might be causing this?
And are there any potential solutions available?
I would appreciate any suggestions or insights you can offer. Thank you.
My operating system is Windows 10 Pro x64.
I’ve already attempted several troubleshooting steps found online and on YouTube, but without success:
- I disabled Windows Defender.
- I attempted installation in Safe Mode.
- I downloaded the ISDone.dll file and placed it in both the Windows32 and SysWOW64 folders, then used Command Prompt to run regsvr32 ISDone.dll
Please assist me with this issue. Thank you, Tom
Please consider requesting a reimbursement for the game on Steam, should that be where you purchased it. It appears there are numerous problems with the software, and the developers have repeatedly instructed users to obtain updated versions and individual files from external websites – a practice that feels deceptive and inefficient. They ought to distribute all updates and fixes equally to their consumers, rather than requiring them to locate these changes themselves. Given that this problem stems entirely from the developers’ actions, I advise you to reach out to them either via their Steam page ( http://steamcommunity.com/app/493490/discussions/ ) or through their official website ( http://www.citycardriving.com/faq?view=faq&catid=16 ).
A notification indicates that one or several of the acquired files may be damaged.
If the download package included an MD5 verification file, or if one is available on the download source’s website, you can utilize the following command within a terminal or PowerShell to match the MD5 value of your downloaded files with the expected MD5 values.
XML:
CertUtil -hashfile C:/pathToFile MD5
Larger files may require several minutes to process. Upon completion, verify that the calculated MD5 value matches the MD5 checksum provided by the source; if they're identical, the file is valid.
I discovered the resolution:
Initially, verify that the file has been downloaded successfully. Then, indicate that you’re installing the game on a drive such as F: – ideally starting in the root of that drive. Rename the folder containing the game files using a short, concise name (e.g., “a,” “b,” or “c”). When installing, place the game files directly on drive F, avoiding nested folder structures. Essentially, avoid using names like “folder\folder\folder” – instead, use a single folder name directly on F: (e.g., “F:\ghost”). Make sure the installation destination folder and the downloaded folder don’t have identical names.
That completes the process. If you encounter any difficulties, please send me a message.
