This situation seems confusing, but as mentioned in the title, the Internet Recovery issue affected my Retina display. It appears to be a hardware problem, though it isn't. The graphical glitch persists every time the screen is active. I've tried resetting the NVRAM and SMC, but it hasn't helped. I should mention that this is the Early 2015 13" MacBook Pro running MacOS Sonoma via OCLP. I'm currently reinstalling Sonoma as I write this. I’m not very familiar with MacBooks or Apple devices overall, but it feels unusual. By the way, I accidentally opened Internet Recovery because I wanted to try Volta.

Check if the smear remains visible during boot up. If you press Option while starting the laptop, does the boot menu still show it? It depends on the current recovery or system state.

Volta is a tool I discovered that lets me set the CPU's energy use. It didn’t function properly, so I had to tweak the SIP using Recovery.

It's odd at first. I think the problem might come from the software interfering with the laptop's firmware instead of Internet Recovery, but it looks more like a hardware issue that happened by chance. Should it have an AMD or Nvidia dedicated graphics card? That would be the most probable cause.

It employs Intel Iris Graphics. That software issue might have a chance, though it’s still slim, since I haven’t managed to alter the firmware. The stress is mounting—I really need this MacBook for school starting next Tuesday.

As a final check, try without any extra components. It might work if you have the AirPort card. Remove HDD, optical drive, etc. Press Option on boot to see if the screen stays. Reseat RAM since Intel HD uses the same memory. System issues could affect built-in graphics—use one stick only.

Only this year. 2015 MBP has connected all components except the SSD.

It seems like your issue is likely related to RAM. I believe Apple moved to soldered components around 2012 or 2013.

I'm unable to open it. I lack the required parts.
