Hello everyone, I've been thinking about downloading Halo Infinite lately. I noticed Steam's speed is now limited to 11MB/s, which was much higher before. After checking my internet speed with Speedtest, I saw the current results. I don’t pay for these speeds—I expect around 500kbps download and 250kbps upload. I checked my router settings and realized I’m connected to the router in my room, but it doesn’t support gigabit speeds. Looking at the network layout, I’m on the same floor as the original modem/router that gave me normal speeds, but now it’s not working. My PC is connected via a cable from the switch to the PC, which should reach the G Floor router. However, I don’t have a direct cable from the router to my PC. I also have a D-Link DIR-853 on the G Floor and a NetGear R6120 in the living room for other uses. Someone could help me figure out how to reroute things properly?

I performed that action, but everything remained linked under the identical router name in my space—it's quite odd. I attempted a reset of IP/DNS and renewal, yet it didn't succeed.

It was a simple cable that my dad swapped in for, which slowed things down. Now everything works fine, thankfully.

Comcast seems great, but where are you if you really want fast internet? You’re getting only a few megabytes, not the real deal.

Yes, a common sign of a faulty cable is its inability to handle speeds beyond 100Mb. It's nice to see the replacement cable resolved the issue. Or perhaps an ISP relies on DOCSIS or cable with restricted upload bandwidth because of network congestion—similar to how FM radio and cable TV work.

I'm based in the US, using Comcast and similar providers. About three weeks ago I couldn't even place a mobile internet order. Getting 300 megabits per second is a big improvement.

I've experienced issues with onboard GB NICs failing (Realtek twice) and only achieving 100mb speeds regardless of cable or device. I confirmed the cables were intact by using a USB Gb/E NIC, which worked at the expected rate. If you own a USB NIC, testing it can help avoid troubles with routers, switches, and cables.
