Recently I observed an unusual performance on my XPS15. My internet connection was extremely slow, making it impossible to stream YouTube in high quality. Interestingly, when using my NordVPN, the speedtest results were inconsistent—down 27ms and 133Mbps, up 26.5Mbps and 29Mbps. My expectations were that with a VPN active, speeds would be higher (around 300 Mbps) but then drop significantly. The issue started after I removed the VPN, yet problems persisted. Even though I reinstalled it, the situation remained unchanged. Everything seemed normal until recently.

It seems your internet connection isn't the issue, but rather your local servers. It looks like you're linking with a NordVPN server that's far from you. My reasoning comes from past experiences when choosing connections—using a VPN makes things slower but faster overall because it routes through a more responsive server. Without the VPN, you connect quickly but at a lower speed, which doesn't make sense. Try checking your speed on the server you use with the VPN active.

Thanks for the update. It seems the problem has resolved after connecting to the fastest server in your area. I’m still puzzled about why it worked then but not now. I’ve tested various servers and noticed consistent performance improvements.
