I’m struggling to figure this out. Over the past month, I’ve been playing Overwatch late at night a few nights each week. Around 3 AM to 5 AM, my internet would suddenly cut out and end my match. Once it reconnected after about half an hour to an hour, everything worked again. The issue only happens during those late hours, not during the day or when I’m not playing. My modem shows no problems and other devices stay online. The Ethernet cable from my PC to the Comcast router is fine for the rest of the day. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I haven’t contacted Comcast yet but intend to soon.

I’m sure I’ll keep working on it. The only reason I haven’t done much so far was because I wasn’t focusing on important tasks and thought I’d stop. Now I’m starting to understand it won’t end like that and I really want to fix it.

When the modem LEDs indicate a loss of connection, the issue is likely on the ISP end. You have limited options except to contact them.

I contacted Comecast and they confirmed the problem was resolved. It’s understandable you’re uncertain about their actions. They reportedly transmitted a signal to your router to halt the behavior, which does sound like a legitimate troubleshooting step.

It's normal for a router to restart occasionally, especially if the ISP provider uses outdated firmware and opts for quick fixes instead of updates. However, it shouldn't remain completely offline.

I previously contacted Comcast and they assured me it’s resolved completely. Could anyone offer additional advice?

Based on how often it occurs, I think it’s maintenance time. They might be installing new firmware or configuration files onto your modem. While it sounds odd every night, they could also be performing updates in your region.
