his friend has installed watchdogs 2 on his laptop with an nvidia geforce 840m graphics card. the setup finished without issues, but when launching the game the splash screen appears briefly and then disappears, leaving nothing visible afterward. he mentioned searching online and found some solutions on youtube, trying various fixes including a patch about 400mb in size, though it didn’t resolve the issue. the game runs smoothly on an 820m gpu, with many similar titles available online. his nvidia driver version is listed as 10.18.13.6472. i hope this gives us enough details to identify the problem. if you have any suggestions or fixes, please share them. thanks.
Sure, let's clarify that.
I didn't quite grasp your point. Could you explain what you meant?
It took some time to reach out to him, and he provided the screenshot. The GPU size mentioned was 840m, not 820m. The image looks clear.
It might work better if the game starts with reduced performance and lower frame rates. This GPU can handle various gameplay options for this title.
Here we start once more with Ubisoft's frustrating experience. I actually enjoyed the game. It was a bit of an adjustment from the controls in Watch Dogs (also a solid title), but I found it worthwhile. Spending about 50 euros on it was a good investment, even on PS4. I own both versions on PS4 and PC, though I prefer the more stable 30fps on PS4 rather than the inconsistent frame rates.
I initially didn't enjoy the Watchdogs 2 story—it felt less engaging compared to the first game. But the gameplay was excellent, and my perspective shifted as I progressed through the middle. Overall, it was a solid experience despite a less exciting start. The issue was resolved by adjusting the target path in the shortcut, which fixed the problem.
Where do you dislike Ubisoft? The game is simply terrible. In my earlier comments: the visuals are impressive, but the issue is that on my system (6700k, 1070 etc.), the game only maintains 60fps at high settings in 1440p. For a title barely better than GTA V, I’m completely unsatisfied. The controls and gameplay are the worst aspects. I’m unsure how a game could be so flawed with vehicle physics, yet they definitely attempted it. Even the quickest cars are capped at about 60mph, and the camera shakes for effect. To top it off, every car appears as if its tires have burst into clown tires. I don’t recall the first one being that bad—though I read somewhere they made a noticeable improvement? After an hour of play, I’m not planning to return soon. The story fails to engage me, and the physics only drive me mad. I could have spent those 40 euros on drinks and would’ve had more fun.
