The laptop upgraded from a 6600k to a 9900ks, and those heavily discounted parts are perfect for boosting efficiency with Intel chips. It's now running at 4.7GHz with a solid undervolt setting that keeps things stable. Used to think about silicon lottery chips, but they were way pricier—especially when you compare the average S-series to the typical K chip.

It’s rare for it to be considered "worth it" at such a steep cost for minimal improvements. 100-300 mhz, often limited by heat issues, doesn’t justify the extra heat generation or the work involved. I don’t believe a SFF project with a 12900KS would fit the power and thermal demands of that component.
