the intel i5 6600k can be overclocked using a gigabyte b250-d3h
My friend recently assembled a PC featuring a 6600k processor with the B250M-D3H motherboard. I'm running the same CPU on an Intel XTU motherboard and using the Z210 board, aiming to overclock it. Although the B250 chipset doesn't allow overclocking, the Intel XTU indicates that only a K model CPU is required.
You could receive around 1% from a BCLK tweak, but that's all. It's not worth the effort. When purchasing a -k CPU from Intel, you absolutely need to get a Z-series board if you plan to overclock. AMD is more flexible in this area, particularly with their AM4 platform. All CPUs are unlocked, and both B and X motherboards support overclocking. The sole exception for AM4 motherboards is due to their very low price range.
the b250 isn't a board that can be overclocked, you'll need a z170/z270 for that
