It seems if CPU-Z is accurate and the i845G model is indeed the i845GV instead of the standard version when there’s no AGP slot, you might be able to install an AGP slot that’s been soldered in and test any of the AGP 8x cards mentioned. The i845G supports AGP 2.0 with four 1.5v connections, and the spec required eight cards for backward compatibility at 1.5v. What doesn’t work are 3.3v AGP cards like the Voodoo 5 version. You’ll need to check under the Northbridge heatsink to confirm. MSI probably had extra i845G on hand and chose to use them instead of purchasing the more expensive i845GV, saving a few dollars.
