The Intel 8600K is overheating, but I don’t understand why.
I reviewed my CPU temperatures using the HW monitor earlier, noticing they reached 90°C and later spiked to 100°C. I suspected the Corsair H100i was the issue, but after replacing it with a new DeepCOOL GAMMAXX L240T cooler, temperatures stayed consistent. My PC continues to run above 90°C with thermal throttling still occurring. I disabled Turbo Boost and confirmed fans and pump RPMs were normal, yet overheating persisted. I’ve double-checked the cooler installation and thermal paste application. What’s happening with my system?
And what are your CPU clocks? A K skew will go all the way to 100C with too much clock or voltage whatever the cooling even sub 0 nitrogen...
Show screenshots of CPU speed, load, and heat over time. Use a metal block on top of the CPU to exclude a dead AIO. Stick with the standard cooler. If no problems are found in the data or fixes, the CPU might be the problem. The TIM between the die and heatsink could be faulty.
These 8000 series chips lack soldered IHS plates, and the adhesive beneath the plate deteriorates over time. Assuming your cooler and case are functioning properly, it’s advisable to replace the thermal paste in the IHS area. Doing so can greatly reduce your CPU core temperatures.

It was a typical decline for the 8700k and 8600k models, around a 15°C drop in temperatures, which often led to delidding on these 8000 series Intel chips. I adjusted the overclocking, and I personally managed to get rid of the issue using LN2. Now I rely on air cooling daily. The delidding was helpful—I wouldn’t have been stuck with a water loop otherwise. It’s something I’ve seen many people do too.
