The integrated GPU shuts down the screens when powered off.
Hello, I'm working with an Intel i5 9600K CPU that uses its built-in graphics for connecting three displays—one DVI Acer, one HDMI via a DP adapter from AOC, and a Sony TV. My motherboard is a Gigabyte B365M D3H, and I run Windows 10. Occasionally I need to leave the PC running all night or power cycle a monitor that isn't functioning well. Usually I just press the power button on my monitors without shutting down the PC. With a GTS 450 GPU it behaved differently; Windows didn’t see it as disconnecting a display, so windows and scaling stayed intact. But with the iGPU setup, turning off any display with its power button removed it completely from the system. Notably, the TV didn’t behave this way before either. It’s not a guaranteed problem, but it seems Windows handles display changes poorly, especially with older software. I suspect it might be related to how the GPU disables the video interface when powered off, rather than the monitor itself. Now that I have two displays using the iGPU, they’re acting this way, unlike the GTS 450. I’m not claiming it’s a flaw, just hoping it can be fixed or turned off. Thanks. Did you attempt to keep this monitor on and check if the problem persists? The display can seem disconnected when turned off or restarted, which matches what I’m experiencing with my Nvidia GPU.
It also occurs when I switch off the DVI display or link it directly to HDMI. As mentioned before, I've faced this issue before, and it consistently worked through HDMI. It seems to be a more general feature now compared to using a DP monitor.
