During the initial setup of Mint, there was an choice to create routine backups. It made sense to enable it!

The trick was updating the system or installing a newer kernel. The most you could do is mark my reply as the solution. (And maybe follow me.)

It was the GPU that caught my attention, not the iGPU. Newer systems always need updates, and distros based on Mint or Debian often fall short compared to Arch or Fedora.
