You're encountering an error because Windows can't install on the disk you described—it likely lacks the necessary drivers or support for Windows 8. Since you're short on budget and time, consider using a different drive or checking if your laptop has the right hardware support. If you need help finding alternatives, let me know!

Check the drive at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...0db62af309 for compatibility. It should work with Windows 7 but may vary slightly.

Are you sure the hard drive is connected properly? Just double-check the plug.

Access the BIOS settings and configure the initial boot device to point to the installation drive, rather than using the installation media itself.

The keyboard isn't responding and only the escape key works in the ASRock menu.

It seems the drive might have been split improperly (it could be treated as RAW if connected to another machine). If you have another computer, you can resolve this issue there; otherwise, you may need to return it for a different unit.

I removed it from a laptop and my friend cleaned it up. The model was a Dell Inspiron 1050.

Make sure to review the partition table if possible. (Probably not RAW)
