Hello, I'm attempting to set up Windows 10 on my old computer. After selecting the bit version, I'm stuck at the loading screen. I tried using Linus Mint from a USB drive, which worked, but I haven't installed it directly onto the PC yet to check for issues. I updated the BIOS, removed and then reinserted the CMOS battery. My understanding is that old hard drives from 2016 or earlier can still function, so that should be enough. I haven't tried reseating hardware yet, but I'd appreciate any advice or steps you recommend. Thanks in advance for your help. Your specs are an i5 7500 with GTX 1060 and B250 Pro4.
CSM configuration in BIOS is set to "Legacy Only." After saving and exiting, the boot manager lets me pick "USB passport" instead of "UEFI passport." I also used Windows Media Creation Tool since Rufus includes MBR or GPT files that introduce unknown variables. Edited March 3, 2024 by Luminous2198 Added info
