Hi, I'm experiencing an unclear problem. I'll share this in the Periphals forum because it appears when I type.
System details:
- Spoiler
- Windows 7 Home Premium SP1
- Intel i-7 4770 at 3.40 GHz
- 16GB RAM
- Nvidia GTX 780
- ASUS keyboard (AK1D model?)
Occurrences include skipped inputs during typing, both letters and non-letters. Other strange things: I can't type capital Q with Shift-q, mouse highlights text incorrectly, commands randomly fire on F5 in some apps, and clicking folders or drives causes them to highlight as if renaming. (Last night I almost renamed my C drive.)
I ran AV scans with Security Essentials and Malwarebytes, but nothing was found. No other obvious issues.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this? Could it be a keyboard problem (used for over 5 years) or something else?

Consider using a different keyboard and check if the hardware problem persists. Perform a clean boot and observe any changes—follow the instructions carefully and avoid disabling any Microsoft services or Windows won’t load properly. If the issue disappears during a clean boot, it likely points to a startup program. Restart the stopped programs one by one to identify the culprit.

When functioning in safe mode, the issue is likely related to software.
If it fails in safe mode, the problem probably lies with the hardware.
