I purchased Battlefield 1 and experienced performance issues while using only 4GB of RAM, achieving frame rates between 30-40fps on low settings in singleplayer and encountering frequent stutters and significant drops due to my memory reaching 98% capacity – a limitation of my aging laptop. I intend to purchase an additional 8GB of RAM, which would result in a total of 12GB. Do you believe this upgrade will improve my frame rates?

My system specifications are as follows:
i3 4030u processor
GT 840m (overclocked) graphics card
4GB of RAM

I’ve observed numerous videos demonstrating smooth gameplay with 8GB of RAM using similar hardware configurations, including an i5 4200u processor, which has comparable performance to my i3. My goal is to be able to play in 64-player maps at a consistent 30fps at least once I install the additional RAM – I’m on a limited budget, and high-end gaming PCs are quite costly. I welcome any advice or insights on this matter.

Your memory capacity won't be the sole constraint. Although 4GB is insufficient for Battlefield 1, your other components are also inadequate.

Greetings PlayerNumberOne, I understand that this system may not meet the minimum requirements for Battlefield 1, however, the game is remarkably efficient. My inquiry concerns whether upgrading to 12 gigabytes of memory will result in a consistently high frame rate – specifically, above 30 frames per second – when playing multiplayer on low settings and at resolutions of 720p or between 80 and 90 percent screen scaling. Alternatively, it may be that a memory upgrade would not improve performance and the game would continue to run poorly.

Before you begin, it’s a good idea to investigate the maximum amount of RAM your laptop can handle. A significant number of models are configured with two 4 gigabyte sticks, resulting in a total memory capacity of 8 gigabytes. What type of laptop are you considering?

Greetings Gamer01, I understand that even though it doesn't meet the baseline requirements for Battlefield 1, the game runs smoothly. My inquiry concerns whether adding 12GB of memory would lead to consistently higher frame rates – specifically, over 30fps – when playing multiplayer at low settings and with a resolution scale of 720p, or potentially even between 80 and 90 percent. However, it's possible that upgrading your RAM wouldn’t improve performance significantly because Battlefield 1 is not particularly well-optimized, and the gameplay would remain poor regardless.

Confirming that it’s compatible, I plan to add an additional 8GB of RAM to my existing 4GB. This will result in a total of 12GB, and I’m wondering if this upgrade will improve my frame rates. My current performance in single-player games is typically between 25 and 35 frames per second. Furthermore, my laptop model is an Asus TP500LN. My goal for multiplayer games is to achieve 30-40 frames per second using low settings and scaling the resolution down to 90% if necessary.

I’ve verified that adding another 8GB of RAM to my existing 4GB will result in a total of 12GB. Will this improve my frame rate? I typically experience between 25 and 35 frames per second in single-player mode. My laptop is an Asus TP500LN. I’m aiming for 30-40 frames per second in multiplayer with low graphics settings and a resolution scale of 90% if necessary.

Battlefield certainly requires at least 8GB and more, but this upgrade will likely provide only a minor boost to your frame count. However, it’s a positive step toward improving your laptop's performance. The difference between single-player and multiplayer gameplay can be significant in many games, as multiplayer tends to rely heavily on processor performance. It’s important not to expect dramatic improvements and to manage your expectations accordingly. The link below shows how your hardware performs at full HD (1920x1080); therefore, if you’re playing at a lower resolution, the game may seem difficult to run:

I experience performance issues when running it at a 720p resolution and low settings. It consistently freezes and fails to operate properly due to memory constraints, specifically while playing in single-player at 30-40 frames per second. I’ve observed online that increasing my RAM might allow me to play it multiplayer at a similar frame rate without the freezing, though I’m uncertain about this. Game Debate claims it won't work because my system doesn’t meet the minimum specifications. However, during single-player gameplay, I achieved 30-40fps, which was acceptable for me, but the freezing interruptions were frustrating. I haven’t yet attempted multiplayer.

I've verified that my system can accommodate additional memory. I plan to install another 8GB of RAM, bringing my total to 12GB. Will this boost my frame rate? I currently experience between 30 and 40 frames per second, frequently accompanied by freezing issues and memory-related errors while playing in single-player. My laptop is an Asus TP500LN. My objective is to achieve 30-40 frames per second in multiplayer with 64 players, utilizing low settings and avoiding freezes after my RAM upgrade.

It’s highly probable that it will work as intended. Let's imagine I have your computer and am playing Far Cry 4. If I were using an MSI AB card, my RAM usage would likely be a substantial factor limiting performance due to extensive paging file utilization. My hard drive would essentially mimic RAM, resulting in diminished performance. Upgrading the RAM should certainly lead to improved results.

I highly advise you to buy a compatible RAM kit, as combining older and newer memory modules can sometimes lead to unpredictable outcomes. While it often functions without problems, there are instances where it fails.

I came across a review and noticed that ten screws at the base of the device can be removed with a standard Philips screwdriver. However, this action had no visible effect – the plastic cover remains firmly attached, preventing battery, memory, or hard drive replacements. You can find numerous YouTube tutorials demonstrating how to replace or upgrade the memory: . Not all information found online is accurate. You likely possess the skills to disassemble the device, but others encountering this problem may not.

This RAM is relatively new, with 4GB of DDR3L memory. I intend to purchase another module of the same type, but with 8GB capacity. I observed a similar technique on YouTube using my laptop, and it functioned successfully. Thank you for your response, though I didn’t fully grasp your meaning. Were you suggesting that I am unable to improve my RAM capacity? Regardless, do you believe that adding 5-10 frames per second to Battlefield 1’s multiplayer would be achievable by increasing my RAM from 4GB to 12GB? I apologize for bringing this up again.
