The idle core frequencies are excessively high.
Hey everyone,
I'm trying out some overclocking on my new setup:
Gigabyte Z390 Gaming M
9900k (+ Kraken M22 cooler)
32GB Ram 3000
Currently I've configured it to 5Ghz clock ratio / Vcore to 1.325 / LLC Turbo / AVX 0 (I saw somewhere that the BIOS might be broken and should stay at 0 until updated)
When I check HWinfo in Windows 10 while idle, I see this:
Is it typical for cores to run at 5Ghz during idle in Windows?
Thanks for your help!
I have the same thing with my i5-4670k:
Spoiler:
my clocks
I think the system can't control the frequency since turbo boost is disabled and we have overclocked our cpus
Also, there is an option in bios that allows to control voltage and clocks (CPU Ratio Mode). I believe I have it enabled (Dynamic), but it works at 4200 anyway. Try to check the option in your bios.
Sorry to hear that. You've already tested many options and still see the same issue. Frequencies remain at 4.9 during idle. Reset BIOS settings and adjusted clocks, XMP, and C states, but nothing changed.
