Run a stress test using one stick of RAM and swap them to check if it behaves like a RAM stick. Determine if there are four sticks total. If it freezes on all four simultaneously, consider saving the CPU; otherwise, it might point to a PSU problem. Keep the GPU out of the troubleshooting unless necessary.
I'm trying to check my two RAM sticks, but the GPU won't work because the motherboard lacks video outputs... Who knew MSI could cut corners on this?
Do you have multicore optimization turned on? What is the MSI label for it? Does your processor run at 5 GHz across all cores when under stress? That could be the cause. It seems with Intel's 9900KS release, every 5 GHz core is now limited, and the rest suffered. This is just my guess, but some users confirm their 9900K can't reach 5 GHz all cores. Make sure the XMP profile is set correctly (DRAM voltage, etc.), and manually adjust Vccsa and Vccio to around 1.15 V for this memory speed.
I think so, since I rebuilt my PC using the 9900k and reset the BIOS back to its original configuration without changing it afterward. I also found out that others are experiencing similar freezing issues with stock settings, and they had to adjust the voltage or change the clock speed to fix the problem. I really wish I hadn’t switched my 8700k now...
Do you rely on a constant voltage, offset, or adaptive voltage? Are C-states implemented? If yes, which ones? Are you applying Loadline calibration? If applicable, what setting do you use? What are your AC/DC Loadline configurations (distinct from calibration)?
