Last month I upgraded my setup with an i9 13900k, RTX 4080, 32GB DDR5 6400MHz RAM, NXT Z73 and ASUS Z790-F motherboard. I optimized the BIOS and achieved a Cinebench R23 score of 40.5k at 282W and 92°C. Recently I switched to a new case called “Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO” with ten fans, better airflow than before, and swapped the Z73 radiator fans for Lian Li Uni Inf fans. The radiator now sits on top instead of the bottom. Now Cinebench R23 crashes and some cores throttle, though the CPU is running at 295W. The temperatures hit 96°C and monitoring tools update slowly with lag. The pump is fully on and all fans are at full speed initially, but I couldn’t boot Windows because of an error about CPU fan placement. I checked the BIOS instructions and ignored the warning, assuming it was normal since I’m no longer using NXT fans. Can you explain why more fans and better airflow lead to higher temps? And what steps should I take to fix this? Thanks ahead.

Based on what you've said, I'm likely thinking the CPU block is under pressure.

Mounting the radiator at the base may harm the pump on the block. NZXT tools can now read your pump’s RPM? Yes, there should be one wire from the pump to a fan header, typically feeding into the CPU as a tachometer so the CPU knows cooling is active. If this fails, the pump might be faulty or nearing replacement while you’re lowering it for installation.

Are you sure you have the latest BIOS update or an older one installed? Previous versions may affect performance.
