I'm new to overclocking, and managed to set my manual voltage down to 1.175v on my i7 8700k @4.8GHz. But i want it to change dynamically so it adjusts down when the CPU is not using any load. I have tried setting it to offset mode, then it stays on my preferred max voltage, but doesn't go down when idling. Also i have to force my CPU to go down in clock speed/idle, it stays on 4.7GHz constantly, with only a split second in 800MHz and then right back up. And if i force down my CPU clock the
voltage doesn't change
. What am i doing wrong here?
I have enabled C States in the BIOS
.
I am using a Maximux X Hero with the latest BIOS (0505).
Here's an album with all my settings
i had the same problem and it's extremely painful in that area.
but i found a solution for you.

I configured it in this manner now:

It continues to function only as a fixed 1.2V setting:

Even adjusting it to 1.4V has no impact...

The goal is to lower the voltage so I can achieve a cooler temperature on my desktop, which is currently around 40-50°C while idling. Is this something you should be concerned about?

The reason I need the voltage reduced is because I want a lower temperature when I'm sitting at my desk, it's running at 40-50C, is this really something I should be concerned about?
That's unusual.
Which cooler are you using?
What are the load temperatures?
I'm working with an H80i V2 and setting load temperatures using Prime95.
