The i5 3570k overclocking is working well.
I'm just starting out with overclocking and unsure what to focus on. I managed to reach 4.5 GHz and run Prime 95 for an hour without any issues, only needing a slight increase of +0.012 volts for turbo. I prefer not to push the CPU too much because my cooling isn't top-notch. Are these temperatures and voltages typical?
My configuration:
- Intel Core i5 3570K
- Hyper 212 Evo processor
- Noctua NT-H1 cooling paste
- Overclock settings: 4.5 GHz, offset 0.005v, turbo 0.012v
Results:
CPU-Z Core Voltage: 1.224
Idle Temperature: 30°C
Prime 95 Maximum Load Temp: 74°C
Based on the details you shared it appears you have a solid setup.
Your golden chip seems to be performing well, and your other parts are in good condition.
According to your idle temperatures, the room should remain cool.
Your 3570k model ran at 35-40°C during idle, with a cooler that matched, and reached a maximum OC of 4.2 GHz.
Paulw shared his experience: he’s new to overclocking and found success with 4.5 GHz, achieving stable Prime 95 performance for an hour without issues and only a slight voltage increase.
He noted the temperatures and voltages are within normal ranges for this configuration.
Your current setup—i5 3570k, Hyper 212 Evo, Noctua NT-H1 paste, overclock settings at 4.5 GHz with 0.005v offset and 0.012v turbo—shows promising results.
Based on the details you shared, it looks like your chip is performing well and the components are functioning properly. Your room temperature seems to be manageable. The idle temperatures you mentioned suggest the system is running efficiently. Your 3570k was stable at around 35-40°C with a cooler, and your maximum overclock reached 4.2 GHz. Paulw’s experience is helpful—he found good results without extreme overclocking due to limited cooling. Your setup appears solid, and you’re in a good position.

Yes, looks alright. I assume the CPU temperatures stay under 70°C normally.
I also ran a benchmark in Arma 3 and Cinebench. The highest temperature recorded was 61°C, which seems acceptable.
For that overclocking, it's really good! Most people are adjusting the Vcore by about 1.4 volts to push their chips further.
Based on the details shared, it appears you possess a strong component and your other parts are functioning well. Your idle temperatures suggest the room is adequately cooled. My previous experience with similar setups shows that your idle temps were around 35-40°C with a comparable cooler, and my maximum overclock reached 4.2 GHz. My current configuration includes an i5 3570k, Hyper 212 Evo processor, Noctua NT-H1 paste, and I’m using a 4.5 GHz setting with a small voltage increase. These readings seem reasonable for that hardware. I’m still testing to confirm stability, but I’m confident it’s due to the quality of my parts. My environment is cool enough, so I’m not overheating. What motherboard, CPU, and power supply are you running?
