Hey, your friend's HP laptop went blue and prompted a restart. After that, it showed a message asking to prepare for automatic repair. It restarted for about an hour without doing anything. We checked the system diagnostics and ran tests—everything passed with no failures. Then we tried restoring from a restore point, but HP had disabled their restore points. We're unsure what to do now. We thought about removing important files before resetting, but are there other steps we can take?

Since it's an HP system, I'd remove the drive, insert it into a desktop setup, verify there are no errors. If everything looks good, back up any essential information, then reinstall it on the laptop. This advanced setting lets you retain all data and applications while resetting the operating system.

You can also share the crash dump files from the BSoD, and I’ll help identify the exact issue.

We resolved the issue by waiting a few hours, then he restarted it and it functioned properly. I might have missed the earlier update, sorry about that. Thanks!
