Hey everyone!
I recently upgraded my old PC because of some RAM problems, but now it's actually running worse than before.
My computer has trouble handling multiple tasks at once, especially when I'm gaming and have to close my browser. It keeps lagging out of the game, not because of a bad internet connection.
It also has difficulty launching basic programs like Windows Explorer and Task Manager, and moving windows between screens often takes at least five seconds for it to understand what I'm asking.
Here’s the spec list: Intel i7-10700K CPU, 64GB RAM, TUF B560M Plus Wifi Motherboard, Kingston SNVS1000G SSD, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070, and three Predator XN3 monitors.
According to Task Manager, the CPU stays idle around 30% and spikes up to 80% when I try to open new tabs in Chrome or Firefox.
I’ve checked for overheating and faulty hardware, swapping parts without any changes to the problem, so I think it’s a software issue.
I’ve talked to tech friends and searched online, but I haven’t found any other specific solutions.
Anyone have ideas or suggestions?

Also, curious why my computer freezes for a second each time the desktop background changes? What could be causing that?

Is the new OS ready to install? What is the brand and model of the PSU? How much space is left on the SSD? What is the latest BIOS for the motherboard? Are the CPU and GPU temperatures normal?

64 GB of memory on a consumer board is impressive, what performance does it achieve? Have you recently installed any comprehensive anti-malware and anti-virus software? It’s important to verify your system hasn’t been compromised by a crypto currency miner or a netbot. If you’re unsure, it’s best to reset everything. Regarding the background images, how many files are stored in the directory? This can significantly affect performance if there’s a large cache of images. I’ve often encountered situations where everyone kept everything in the root photo album and used it as a screensaver. (I once even faced the challenge of multiple screen saver applications trying to launch simultaneously.)
