I upgraded my gaming laptop by adding more RAM. I purchased a module from Amazon to replace the existing one. When I swapped it in, the new stick didn’t function properly, but pairing it with the old one worked. The issue seems related to speed differences between the modules. My laptop model is the ROG GL702VM.

The 6th/7th generation Intel chips have a maximum RAM speed of 2133 or 2400, which means a 3200 RAM isn't beneficial. The issue with the single stick might be unclear, and the JEDEC speed rating could be too high for your setup.

You own the latest model but the system displays 2400 as the working speed. Decide whether you want to purchase a component that matches this speed or opt for a slower one if needed.

The RAM operates at a speed of 3200 RPM when both sticks are installed.

You have two configurations: a 2400 and a 3200, and the CPU-Z indicates slower performance on the 2400.

The 2400 stick isn't the authentic version; the genuine model is 2133

CPU-Z displays the memory stats based on installed modules. With only the 2400 stick installed, it shows the 2400 RAM value. When both 2400 and 3200 sticks are present, it updates to reflect the combined total. The memory tab screenshot would capture these values clearly.

It supports dual channels with both sticks, but the 2400 MT/s stick only provides 4GB.

Absolutely, I paired it with another 4GB drive; the first one was a 16GB 2133 format.
