Hello, I purchased the R5 1600 about five weeks ago. Because it's limited by other components, I'm planning to undervolt it for at least a year. I've attempted to adjust the voltage and frequency together, but it crashes even though it's stable when changed slowly. This happens because the voltage drops before the frequency changes, causing a crash in that brief moment. If I save the settings and restart my PC, it won't load the profile at all. I'm unsure if I'm doing something wrong or if I should try a different program.
It doesn't affect lifespan significantly, undervolt isn't simply "less volts" but rather "fewer volts for a specific clock speed." I haven't found any research proving that limiting voltage extends chip life beyond safe levels—1600 is already quite outdated. Personally, it's not a worthwhile investment; a 2600 offers better performance for the price, and a 3600 is a solid choice at $60.
That board is a M.2 slot. Most Zen boards work with Zen+ and Zen2, often Zen3 too.
