I frequently encounter flashing lines on my screen, similar to the distortion you see with digital cable. It happens randomly but often enough to be bothersome. It appears to be related to the quality of the HDMI cables I use. Over the past four years, I've dealt with many of these issues without any signs of abuse or misuse. It seems like the problem is simply that these cables degrade over time. I'm not sure what's causing it, but it definitely isn't normal. Are HDMI cables really this prone to wear?

I've always experienced no problems with cables deteriorating. I've kept using the same cable for my monitor for more than three years now.

HDMI isn't great, especially with 4K at 120Hz using HDR and VRR. Try re-seating the cable at both ends. If it still doesn't work, swap the cable.

I've had the poorest experience with HDMI cables overall. This one has excellent reviews, but after ten months of regular use it begins to fail... They provide an 18-month warranty, though the cost of returning it for shipping doesn't justify getting a new one.

It's not a display. If it had supported DP, I would have used it instead.

It bothers me that TVs don’t handle DP support well. I’ve tested various cables until I found some that seem to function. So far, I haven’t seen any long-term issues except for one cable that worked perfectly when cold, but the end connected to the GPU eventually gets hot and stops working.

I believe I might have fixed the issue. It looks like dust could be the cause. After cleaning the ports on my GPU and reconnecting everything, things seem normal. Let's check how long it lasts.
