I just put Assassin's Creed 3 on my desktop and noticed the frame rate dropped significantly. It went from 60 to around 30 when I reached Boston. I've updated my drivers, but it looks like some people have faced the same problem. Your system specs are: MSI GTX 970, i5-4590, ASRock motherboard, 1TB hard drive, 8GB RAM.

I've also increased the anti-aliasing to the highest setting.

This is totally normal, Its an unoptomised POS. I have two 290x's and can barely run it at med when you hit Boston, beforehand it worked fine and then NOPE. Nothing can be done about it except tone the graphics down

I've learned that many Ubisoft titles for the Far Cry series perform poorly in optimization. Some well-performing games include... I’ll list a few examples.

It tends to remain around 59 or 60, mostly due to v sync, about 60 percent of the time. The remaining 40 percent falls into the low fifties and occasionally the forties. This pattern is mainly seen in Boston, though it can occur in the frontier as well. It doesn’t drop into the forties like in Boston, but it does lower into the fifties.

Some folks have an odd obsession with criticizing Ubisoft. Their games aren’t all terrible—most ports are actually quite fine. Far Cry 4 wasn’t especially smooth, though. Also, I managed 60 frames per second on high settings with a GTX 680 while playing it, which is pretty cool.

I usually score around 60. The drop is significant.

It seems the issue might be related to the hard drive. It could be slow overall, though I haven’t used one for a long time. I tried playing AC3 on an SSD instead.

Curious... this idea about hard drives affecting performance hasn't come up before.

They may experience issues if the system is running very slowly or if memory runs out.
