In 2021 I bought a used Zotac GTX 1070 Mini for my old gaming desktop. I was moving to a gaming laptop because of its portability. I shared the GPU with a friend who didn’t own one yet, since the 1070 is gathering dust now. During a gaming session, he noticed his screen went dark mid-game and couldn’t see anything. After some troubleshooting, he found the GPU would boot but showed no display output on either DisplayPort or HDMI. He couldn’t test DVI since he lacked the cable or a compatible monitor. Fortunately, his Ryzen APU provided decent integrated graphics, so we kept going. I tested it with a known system that beeps during POST before Windows loads. With a GT730 I used it first, and it worked fine. Then I tried the 1070; it beeped once indicating a successful POST, but no display appeared on HDMI. Is there a way to revive it or further troubleshoot? People suggest baking the GPU, but that seems risky. Any advice would be appreciated!

Attempted to reset the CMOS. This problem occurred before. It might be as straightforward as that.

Thanks for the guidance! I took out the CMOS battery from the motherboard and reinstalled it after a short wait, and the GPU came back to life! I cleaned it up, reworked the GPU, and it still performs well in games. I started Project Cars 2 and got around 90-100fps during a quick race in Laguna Seca. The temperatures were also good, around 73°C with an ambient of 23°C. Now I have a solid GTX 1070 and plan to move it somewhere better.
