I recently installed a water-cooled loop on my PC, and everything started fine at first. However, my GPU performance has dropped significantly—my graphics score fell from about 10,000 to around 2,863. I used a PCI-E Gen 3 riser cable, which might be contributing to the issue. My specs are: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X, Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti, Founders Corsair Vengeance 32GB, 3600MHz. Any suggestions or fixes would be really helpful. Please let me know if you have any other details to add. Thank you!

Would such a significant slowdown actually occur? I couldn’t locate a suitable riser cable for the screw holes, so I resorted to the Corsair Gen 3 instead.

Ensure everything functions properly; any variation should be minimal. Did you verify the temperatures, clock speed, and power settings using tools like MSI Afterburner or HWinfo64?

Conditions remain favorable most of the time, operating at roughly 30°C with performance between 50-60°C under load. The clock speed is set to 450MHz, and the display shows 0mV when the afterburner is activated.

Discuss the speed of the clock when it's under stress.

Some riser cables are extremely good quality. Are you using hard tubes or soft tubes? If it's soft tubes, simply insert the card into the motherboard and you'll quickly understand.

You might also use GPU-Z to check the "Bus Interface" details.

During the timing check, the maximum clock speed I observed was just below 400MHz.

It might help to use the Driver Uninstaller and reinstall drivers. It seems unlikely, but worth trying. More likely, the issue is with the riser cable.
