The graphics card is no longer supporting HDR and/or 4K at 120Hz.
Hello fellow members,
I've been working all day to fix this problem but I'm still stuck. The main issue is that I can't output 4K at 120Hz or enable HDR. I've tried swapping HDMI cables, using TVs that support HDR and 4K@144Hz (since I don’t have a DisplayPort monitor for testing), and performing a clean driver install. Both cables are certified and support 8K60Hz, but one of them just doesn't work. The other does, but I need to reposition the HDMI connection for the GPU to receive a signal. Could the HDMI port be faulty?
I also noticed that my PSU might be the problem—there was an unexpected power cut-off and it stopped supporting 4K@120Hz. Could that have impacted the PSU or the GPU?
Later, I managed to get 4K@120Hz on another TV, but today it's very difficult to get a signal. It worked in safe mode, reached up to 4K60Hz, but once I enabled HDR or chose 120Hz, there was no output.
I ran a 3DMark benchmark and my Time Spy Extreme score is 11,372.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Performed a clean installation of drivers. Since it wasn't specified, use DDU in Safe Mode to delete all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, Nvidia) then restart and install the newest GPU driver from Nvidia's support site via an elevated command—Right click the installer and select Run as Administrator.

What BIOS version are you running on your motherboard?
Could the PSU be faulty?

How long has your PSU been in use?
Do you encounter the same problem when switching back to your previous display and cable? If so, please note the make and models of the TVs involved and share a link to the cables you're using.

I appreciate the response.
Yes, I performed a clean installation using DDU in safe mode and removed the automatic setup by cleaning the install of 581.94 without an internet connection. The BIOS version is E7D25IMS.1M1 and the build date is 05/19/2025. The power supply unit is 3 years and 8 months old.
The first cable I used is the one that came with the Xbox Series X—it's a high-speed HDMI cable and has been reliable for the past four years.
The second cable is an UGREEN Zinc Alloy 8K cable, available on amazon.com.
My first TV is a TCL 75" 4K@144Hz display with only HDMI ports. Previously, it worked at 4K@120Hz, but then stopped functioning. I plan to share a video in the next post if possible.
The second TV is a TCL 65" 4K@144Hz model.
Both TVs currently display up to 4K60Hz, and HDR no longer functions on the RTX. It operates correctly with the integrated GPU that comes with the Intel CPU.
Thanks for your help.
BIOS version E7D25IMS.1M1 with Build Date 05/19/2025 was found. The motherboard's BIOS list shows version 7D25v1M1 (Beta). Ensure you have the latest chipset drivers installed, then proceed to update BIOS to version 7D25v1M, which is the pending update. After confirming the BIOS flash was successful, reset the CMOS and attempt the DDU steps again to see if they resolve the issue.
HDR 10+ is fully supported. Up to 144Hz is also compatible. These features were functioning correctly before. HDR is disabled in Windows, but turning it on causes the screen to go blank—this was unusual previously. At 120Hz, it supports 2560 x 1440 and lower resolutions. For 4K, the support has stopped. The UGREEN HDMI cable doesn’t work with the GPU at all; only the older Xbox Series X cable does. The UGREEN cable functions with other devices.
I spent the whole day attempting to resolve the problem and here are my notes.
1. I swapped in the RTX 3080 instead of the RTX 5070 Ti, and it performed perfectly at 4K @120Hz and 144Hz with HDR, using the same HDMI cables. Is there a method to share images on this forum?
2. When I used the RTX 3080, I reverted to the 5070 Ti but it still couldn’t achieve 4K@120Hz or HDR. Yet, in NVIDIA App > System > Displays > Color, adjusting the Output Color Settings from Default to NVIDIA and setting Output Color Depth to 8 bpc, along with choosing YCbCr444 or RGB for Output Color Format, allows me to enable HDR at up to 60Hz, not 120Hz.
3. Selecting YCbCr420 in the Output Color Format lets me reach up to 120Hz at 4K but without HDR.
My RTX 5070 Ti has been functioning smoothly with this display at 4K@120Hz using the original cable, which is a reliable connection.
Is the PSU faulty?
I believe the HDMI port (only one on the MSI Vanguard) might be defective and no longer supports 4K@120Hz or HDR. Is that even feasible?
You can share images by using the provided method. For screenshots, you should upload them to the correct website.
I have an MSI Vanguard RTX 5070 Ti with 1x HDMI and 4x DP ports.
My TVs support up to 4K@144Hz, HDR+, and VRR.
I use a few reliable HDMI cables such as the Xbox Series X cable and an UGREEN cable, which perform well.
With the 5070 Ti, only the Xbox Series X HDMI cable functions properly, though it sometimes drops signals.
At 10 bpc, RGB and up to 4K60Hz are supported without HDR.
At 8 bpc, RGB and up to 4K60Hz are supported with HDR.
At 8 bpc, YPbPr 4:2:0, up to 4K120Hz are supported without HDR.
This setup worked fine for a while, but recently the behavior has changed.
The BIOS was updated, and I performed a clean install using DDU and the latest NVIDIA hot fix driver. I also tried an older driver.
I think the HDMI port may be faulty. Since I don’t have a DP display nearby, it’s hard to confirm if the issue is with the cable or the port itself.
The UGREEN ultra-fast cable doesn’t detect any signal from the RTX 5070 Ti, but it works perfectly with the RTX 3080 at 4K/144Hz with HDR.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
