My graphics card isn't being fully utilized in Grand Theft Auto V. During the game’s benchmark test, its usage nearly doubles, and frame rates increase significantly as well. I'm utilizing maximum settings at a 1920x1080 resolution, achieving frame rates between 50 and 100. However, the benchmark produced results of 120 to 200 frames per second. I was tracking my processor and graphics card performance using HWMonitor while both playing the game and running the benchmark.

Playing:
Processor usage: 30 - 40%
Processor temperature: Approximately 65 °C
Graphics card usage: 40 - 50%
Graphics card temperature: Approximately 55 °C
GTA Benchmark:
Processor usage: 30 - 40%
Processor temperature: Approximately 65 °C
Graphics card usage: 70 - 86%
Graphics card temperature: Approximately 60 °C

Windows Task Manager indicated that the game was consuming 30% of available memory, while an additional 60% was being used simultaneously. Could you suggest potential reasons for this discrepancy? I assembled my computer just over a month ago.

Specifications:
CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x
GPU: GeForce RTX 2070
Storage: Samsung 1TB 860 EVO
Memory: G.Skill 16GB (2x8GB), Ripjaws V, DDR4 3200MHz
Motherboard: ASRock B450 Pro4
Power Supply: Seasonic 650W FOCUS+ 650 Platinum

What is your current position within the game when evaluating frame rates, and against which section of the benchmark are you measuring them?

I was simply navigating the game world, both within and beyond the city limits. Within the game, my frame rate rarely exceeds 100 frames per second when I venture outside of town, yet the benchmark shows a drop below 100 frames per second only during the final section featuring a large explosion.

Does anyone have suggestions? Or are you thinking that 50-100 frames per second is typical for my hardware? I find it to be somewhat underwhelming.

Consider checking for a new Windows update. This week’s update addresses problems introduced by the previous update.

What kind of memory are you utilizing?
Is it operating at a speed of 3200 MHz?
