The GPU powers down after a short period.
I have faced several issues with my computer over the past year. After relocating to a new city for college, I didn’t bring my PC with me. When I returned, it failed to display anything. I changed RAM and used a single stick, which initially resolved the problem. After a while, it stopped working again. I submitted it for return and received no improvement. Once I sent the motherboard, GPU, and RAM back, it still didn’t function properly. Eventually, I fixed the BIOS by removing CMOS and lowered the fans to 100%, which caused the GPU to shut down when the display went out. The screen only worked on one port and not HDMI. I’ve tried resetting Windows, uninstalling drivers, updating them, and even removed the CMOS to reset the BIOS. My GPU temperatures remain low—usually around 60°C—but recently dropped to about 40°C due to excessive cooling. Gaming, especially Valorant, doesn’t fully utilize my GPU. I’m still working on a stable setup now.
It seems like a PSU might be the concern, though the CPU could also be struggling. If the CPU were the issue, the fans wouldn't stop working.
I revised the bios at the end of last year, but now I’m nervous about doing it again since the screen could crash during the update. For now, I plan to send my PSU for repair and test my GPU on a friend’s computer. Regarding the PCIe lane speed, I’m unsure how to check or what the correct speeds are. I looked up instructions online and found some helpful links (images attached).
