The GPU power cables were disconnected during operation?
GPU: RX 6800 XT
I was wondering if my GPU or PC is in good shape. Everything looked normal until the cables weren’t fully connected. I managed to boot into Windows and see a display, so I put my front glass panel in and nudged the power cables to the GPU. My PC went black, then the screen turned off completely and the motherboard LED lit up red on VGA. After rebooting, the VGA LED disappeared and everything seemed okay. When I removed the power cable and made sure it was properly plugged in, the PC restarted and everything worked again. I did some stress tests—my GPU ran at normal speeds, with settings like Red Dead Redemption Ultra, Resident Evil 4 max, and Cyberpunk max. I’m really confused because I didn’t see any damage despite the situation. My power supply is an EVGA Supernova G5 750W with surge protectors. It was a scary moment, but it seems like the PSU might still be fine. Another thing that happened was I unplugged the CPU while keeping the power cable connected, and my PC shut down completely. I was really trying to figure out what was wrong, but since it was off, maybe it’s okay. Just wanted you to know I read everything and appreciate your help. It’s been three days and I’m still a bit anxious. Thanks for understanding.
It should be okay. The card would lose power immediately just like during a power outage. It's similar to running a vacuum cleaner and unplugging it while it's operating. The OS or BIOS might have an issue, but it's unlikely to cause a default change on reboot. If nothing appears once everything is set, you're in good condition.
hey thanks again for replying and thanks for reassuring usually everything should be fine, i check my bios and everything seems as it was before i had a visual glitch with the mouse but that happened before all of this, i gave it the same update it had before,
