My GPU also has issues sitting flush. I have to be very careful and get the angle just right. The rear IO panel shield intrudes into the GPU area, and while the GPU would sit fine without the backplate, I don't really want to remove it! So my GPU is forced into a crooked position when it is fully seated into the PCIE socket. That is a nice upgrade though. But you might want to look into if PCIE2 is going to limit the 4080. It does sound like a poor contact between the GPU and socket though, which makes a lot of sense on why you're having this issue. But that is a popular case and GPU, so you may have to try reseating it a couple times until the GPU is fully into the socket. Nice job figuring it out!

Thanks for your patience. As a beginner builder, I'm trying not to complicate things further. Right now I'm stuck in PCIe gen 2, but I'm open to testing higher versions later when upgrading RAM, the motherboard, or CPU. I recently played Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing enabled and it performed better than most GPUs on the market—clearly outperforming the 4070 TI. So far I’m okay with the current performance. I plan to upgrade my RAM to some colorful RGB options by year-end and double-check the motherboard’s compatibility list to avoid any surprises. Still, I acknowledge there’s no perfect solution yet, but I have a working PC for both work and gaming.

I purchased some upgraded RAM during Black Friday, but the problems persisted. Any PCIe Express 3 or higher (with 16 lanes) caused instability and crashes. Interestingly, the GPU worked at PCIe Gen 4 when set to RAID mode, suggesting a signal integrity problem possibly linked to the CPU. It might be that the PCIe controller is defective. Odd considering CPUs are usually reliable and my system still functioned reasonably with PCIe Gen 2 or lower. I’d prefer living in Europe or America where solutions might be easier. Returning the product seems tough because shipping from East Africa is difficult, and getting an AMD CPU could be challenging. For now, I’ll settle for this until I’m on vacation and can try a bareboard build. I don’t want to get too involved since my PC is essential for work.

I believe it wouldn’t take much longer in the United States to resolve this issue. It’s often tough for a business to acknowledge they shipped a faulty item. You might want to consider swapping out your CPU, as that’s the only remaining option. Do you have a warranty on it?

Updated info? Chipset driver? If you installed it, it might be the motherboard. RAM on the QVL? These components are key for Ryzen systems too. XMP support could help or not. PS: Corsair RAM and SSD? Yeah, they’re worth checking. I’m not sure this is just a CPU problem—there are plenty of other factors to consider.
