Completed a fresh installation since the GPU arrived. The system ran smoothly for days with integrated graphics, but after shutting it down and installing the new GPU, only the LED on the heatsink pulsed red. All other components failed to activate. I updated the BIOS and started Windows 11 Pro. After removing the GPU, it still didn’t function. The motherboard is Asus ROG Strix Z690-A, paired with an Intel 12700k, Firecuda graphics, 1TB SSD, 4TB HDD, G.Skill DDR4 3600, and a 850W PSU from Fractal Design.

The GPU was secured in a vertical position with a Gen 3 riser cable.

You might need to turn off the iGPU in BIOS settings. It could clash if left active. The riser cable may also be damaged. Try connecting it directly in the slot temporarily to verify. Updated June 21, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more details

I fully took out the GPU, but it still won’t turn on. If you install it in its usual position, maybe it will work better.

You might have to turn off the integrated GPU in the BIOS settings, which could be the root cause. I missed noticing the integrated GPU on my first read.

Check if the video cable is connected to the GPU or the motherboard. You may attempt to disconnect the device briefly, detach the riser cable, and connect the video cable to the motherboard's video output. If you gain access to BIOS, turn off the integrated graphics in the settings. The 3080 should handle this automatically, though it might resolve the issue. Be aware that if your GPU is completely unresponsive, this could be a separate problem. Edited June 21, 2022 by An0maly_76 Updated, more info
