Final update: the vbios was likely altered for mining purposes. Remember to research the item first before purchasing a used one. Update notes: the auto fan should stay on, but MSI afterburner doesn’t work with this card. It seems non-supported. I’m unsure if disabling I/O is typical for mining BIOS, though that might explain some issues I faced with a used GTX 980ti G1. I’ve checked standard fixes—reseating, cables, DDU, CMOS reset, reinstalling Windows—but nothing works. Now only HDMI output is usable, even on the screen. I’ve tested both ports. If the HDMI port fails, it could relate to the IGPSE specs: motherboard model, CPU, RAM, SSD, GPU, power supply.
Do you know if its actually POSTing? Do you get a beep and if you have no speaker on the motherboard, can you find one to find out? I know some cards are fiddly and pick only one port as the default output, though I think this is usually HDMI. Also check the BIOS and see if you can force the iGPU as the main output, if its not it may not start it up with a dGPU installed. That way you could at least get into Windows and see if the dGPU is detected properly in there.
Do you know whether using a GPU for mining is possible? Has the vBIOS been adjusted for mining purposes? Consider setting BIOS to utilize the iGPU during boot. If you install both cards, can you see output from your previous one and switch to both? When Windows starts up, verify if it recognizes the new GPU in Device Manager. From what I understand, Gigabyte offers a vBIOS for your card, but proceed carefully when flashing it. Make sure all requirements and compatibility are met.
He told me he played with it, but for a while after getting it from a friend. I’m not sure what the friend did with it either. It’s possible they’re being dishonest. The auto fan turning off appears to be turned off, which could point to a mining BIOS issue.
