Hello, forum members. I'm dealing with an issue on my system where one of the three GPU fans is spinning way too fast—over 3000 RPM at idle. All temperatures stay around 30°C, and other components aren't overheating. I've tried using FanControl to manually adjust the fan speeds, but the problematic fan (along with its pair) doesn<|pad|>'son remain unresponsive. There are three fans in total; Fan 1 is the one farthest from the IO shield, while Fan 2 and Fan 2-1 are paired together. The fan I'm focusing on is part of the pair (Fan 2-1), which doesn't move much even when I try to push it. Sensors detect all fans, but only Fan 1 reacts to manual changes. I've previously used MSI Afterburner and Zotac's FIRESTORM, but those didn't help and have been removed. Under heavy workloads, the fans stabilize at reasonable speeds, though not always. I've replaced pads and paste on this GPU before, so it's possible something went wrong. Before investing in replacement fans, I want to check other options first—my home is dusty, which might have damaged the fans. Sometimes Fan 2-2 fluctuates erratically at idle. I bought this GPU two years ago, so an RMA might not be feasible here.

It seems like the issue isn't related to software but rather hardware. The fan cable, header, or microcontroller might be the cause.

I found a new insight. By pushing the noisy fan (2-2) hard, the matching fan (2-1) will begin to move and increase its speed to 3000 RPMs.

I believe I came across a JayzTwoCent video earlier regarding an EVGA GPU with unstable fan behavior, likely due to a tightly wound fan cable. I wanted to bring it up since you mentioned you've already opened it. Edit: this video

It was interesting to see how the fan changed when I adjusted the graphic board a bit. After reading your message, I reopened and closed it carefully to avoid damaging any cables. And guess what! It's now quiet! Thanks a lot.
