I’m not sure if this has always been the case, but I’ve started my PC and 3DMark. My score is around 12350, with 78fps in the first test and 73fps in the second. I’ve passed every stress test I throw at it. My over clock sits at 75+ cores and 800+ memory clocks. When I load any game and play for even a minute before closing, my score drops to about 11900 around 75fps in the first test and 70fps in the second. My fans are running nearly 100%, and temperatures on the card have stayed between 55°C and 60°C—definitely not overheating. Still, I’m completely confused about what’s happening.
A 3 fps gap is negligible. The RTX begins losing its clock speed after 40C.
The 2080Ti cools down from 2130Mhz to 2085Mhz at 40°C, then drops to 2055Mhz at 60°C and remains stable there. Everything seems fine, it's just a normal behavior.
I get it, 3fps in 3DMark is around 10 frames per second in my games. I'm more concerned about the GPU becoming unstable and failing to process anything even when temperatures stay normal.
if you're not going through a stress test, your oc is too aggressive.
It seems they'll likely have to either reduce the core clock speed or eliminate it entirely. Even with memory overclocking, Turing and Pascal still benefit.
This happens because the system behaves differently during long stress tests versus when loading a game, causing unexpected failures.
