blizzard made some poor decisions. they missed a huge chance, but dota 2 does pay professional players like lol salaries. it's a real job, just like for other pros. the prize money is just the top part of the deal. Edited May 10, 2015 by s3ns3

valves don't compensate players with salaries; their organizations handle that.

The key distinction lies in how each game develops its professional scene. Pro Dota 2 has cultivated a thriving competitive environment, while LoL primarily hosts a major annual tournament. Players in Dota 2 often receive sponsorships or organizational support.

Are you kidding? DOTA is incredibly tough to grasp and even more challenging to perfect. You've never played DOTA, but many players spend over 2000 hours, while I have around 3.2k—mostly casual. If you have that much time in CS:GO, you'd be at least a top-tier player right away. I'm not making this up; I've got 400 hours, mostly just browsing, plus about 100 hours each on DMA and MM. I was active before the big updates. Don't waste your time if you're not familiar with it.
