You need a free PCI-E port to use a PCI-E adapter or riser card. A solid-state drive won't boot properly from such a setup. Your graphics card can fit in the first PCI-E X16 slot, but if you have only an older PCI slot, you'll need a different approach. Unless you opt for integrated graphics without a dedicated card, consider using SATA SSDs instead. Another idea is to connect the adapter via a riser cable to the PCI-E X1 port, though this offers minimal speed improvement since the SSD will only reach 1 GB/s—about half of a standard SATA connection.

probably not sadly, it's a 4c/4t chip and will struggle with a lot of things. if you can't move to a different platform, a 6700/7700/k will be a huge upgrade.

I’m currently using a Western Digital Green 240GB SSD and a Toshiba 1TB HDD spinning at 7200 RPM. I’m curious about installing a new SSD with much higher capacity, around 480GB.

You’ll need a solid one. They don’t draw much power, but it’s not negligible. The 2060 uses about 180W, 2070 around 210W, and 2080 roughly 250W just for the card. For these graphics, you’ll want a power supply delivering at least 400-500W from a reliable brand.

You're missing a PCI-E port to fit this device. Your system's design restricts options. Placing a video card in the larger PCI-E X16 slot will disable the smaller PCI-E X1 port. You might try a riser cable to link another component, but it won't really help.
